Models that predict failures provide (enough) value<\/h1>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most failures require different maintenance actions to prevent downtime. <\/span><b>Prescribing a specific maintenance action <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is critical for value realization.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The mining companies\u2019 data science teams are tasked with building models that predict machine failures. Even when designed successfully, they can\u2019t provide the necessary value. replacing the bearing, the failure will happen again, and the cycle will continue, imposing two significant threats:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Inefficient maintenance<\/strong> &#8211; flooding the maintenance teams with work orders and causing them to chase their tails<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Potential safety hazard&nbsp;<\/strong> &#8211;
