Senior Technical Project Manager
About The Position
Razor Labs is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead and oversee complex technology deployments across Australian mining operations.
Reporting directly to the VP Australia, this role is responsible for structured oversight of multiple concurrent mining site deployments, ensuring disciplined governance, financial control, and consistent delivery standards across all projects.
You will manage and supervise end-to-end implementation of sensor-based and condition monitoring solutions across both fixed plant assets and Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME). This role requires strong field leadership, a solid understanding of instrumentation and commissioning practices, and the ability to govern complex deployments across geographically dispersed mining operations.
The successful candidate will combine technical depth with structured project governance, overseeing integrator-led site activities while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, schedule, scope, and budget performance across multiple concurrent projects - both on site and through disciplined remote oversight.
Frequent travel to mine sites across Australia will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead stakeholder engagement to define clear project scope, technical requirements, and delivery expectations.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, resource allocation, and cost control across concurrent mining deployments.
- Provide structured governance across multiple site implementations, maintaining financial discipline and consistent delivery standards.
- Direct technical execution across deployments, supervising integrator-led sensor installation and integration with fixed plant assets and Heavy Mobile Equipment.
- Coordinate cross-functional internal teams, third-party vendors, and site-based integrators to achieve successful outcomes.
- Serve as the primary client interface, managing complex stakeholder environments and leading formal project reviews, progress presentations, and escalation discussions where required.
- Track site progress, manage risks, and provide field leadership to resolve operational and technical challenges.
- Ensure compliance with Australian mining safety regulations and site operational standards.
- Prepare and present structured status reporting, including schedule performance, risk exposure, and budget tracking.
- Lead client-facing governance forums and steering meetings, presenting project performance, risk exposure, and delivery plans to site and regional leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement in deployment processes, technical quality, and execution efficiency.
- Operate effectively across geographically dispersed mining operations, maintaining disciplined oversight where continuous on-site presence is not practical.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in technical project management within mining, heavy industry, or similar industrial environments.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex technical projects from initiation through to commissioning and operational handover.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent site deployments in live operational environments.
- Strong background in instrumentation, industrial sensor deployment, and system integration.
- Practical understanding of installation and commissioning activities, including supervision of contractors and integrators.
- Experience working with fixed plant assets and Heavy Mobile Equipment within mining operations.
- Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, schedule control, and structured risk management.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with site engineering, maintenance, and executive leadership.
- High-level problem-solving capability in technically complex environments.
- Experience working within Australian mining safety and operational frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred).
- PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly regarded.
Advantages:
- Direct experience delivering predictive maintenance or reliability improvement programmes within Tier-1 mining operations.
- Exposure to industrial data platforms, asset management systems, or SAP integration within mining environments.
- Experience supervising large-scale instrumentation rollouts across multiple operational sites.
- Familiarity with industrial analytics or AI-based monitoring solutions applied to asset reliability.
