Senior Technical Project Manager
About The Position
As a Senior Technical Project Manager at Razor Labs, you will lead complex technology deployment projects across the mining sector in Africa, with a strong operational focus on Mobile Fleet environments.
This role requires proven experience managing projects involving heavy mobile equipment (haul trucks, loaders, excavators, drills, etc.) and a solid understanding of fleet operations, maintenance workflows, and equipment behavior.
You will take full ownership of project execution from scoping and site surveys through deployment, validation, and client handover.
The role demands strong technical orientation — not as the primary troubleshooting authority, but as a professional who can understand system behavior, interpret technical findings together with engineering teams, and confidently communicate detected faults, analyses, and operational implications to clients.
You will act as the bridge between Razor Labs’ technical teams and client operational stakeholders, ensuring structured execution, clear communication, and prevention of recurring operational events.
Responsibilities:
● Prepare and present regular project status reports and updates, including risk management strategies, timelines, and milestones.
● Lead end-to-end deployment of technology projects involving heavy mobile equipment.
● Manage multiple projects simultaneously maintaining detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
● Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely updates and addressing any project concerns with a solution-oriented approach.
● Facilitate structured technical discussions between engineering teams and client stakeholders.
● Clearly communicate detected system events, analytical findings, and operational implications to fleet and maintenance teams.
● Coordinate cross-functional teams including R&D, Data, Integration, and third-party vendors to ensure successful implementation of projects.
● Lead stakeholder engagement to ensure clear and comprehensive project requirements and expectations.
● Manage technical project execution on-site, overseeing the deployment of sensor technologies and integrations with heavy machinery.
● Monitor site progress, manage risks, and provide hands-on leadership to address challenges, ensuring all project deliverables are met.
● Oversee and ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
● Demonstrate the ability to work in remote or challenging environments, leading efforts to deploy technology solutions with a flexible and adaptable mindset with high independence and ownership.
● Conduct site visits (including flights) to active project locations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
● At least 8 years of experience in a project management role within the mining, heavy machinery, or similar industrial sectors.
● Proven experience managing projects involving heavy mobile equipment (haul trucks, loaders, excavators, drills, etc.).
● Strong understanding of mobile fleet operations, maintenance processes, and typical failure mechanisms in heavy trucks.
● Strong technical orientation with the ability to understand system architecture and analytical outputs.
● Proven track record in leading technical projects from inception through successful delivery in on-site environments.
● Strong expertise in sensor deployment, instrumentation, and integration, particularly in industrial applications.
● Hands-on experience with technology installation, system integrations, and managing vendor relationships.
● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex client relationships and technical discussions.
● High-level problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges quickly and effectively.
● Experience with project management methodologies, including PMP, Agile, or equivalent.
● Ability to adapt and lead in international and remote environments.
● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field (Mechanical Engineering a plus).
Advantages:
● Previous experience with condition monitoring and predictive maintenance projects in industrial sectors, particularly in mining.
● Experience in software implementation projects and sensor-based solutions in mining or industrial sectors.
● Familiarity with data analysis tools, SAP, and condition monitoring technologies.
● Expertise in AI and machine learning applications in the industrial sector.
● PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification.
● Experience with condition monitoring systems and predictive maintenance projects.
● Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools, sensor deployment, and data interpretation.
